Artist Statement

Art work and design are part of our every day lives; in our cities, our homes and our markets. It's in these ordinary places that I come upon subject matter for new work. The beauty of organic shapes and color in deli meats and stacks of fruit inspire my work.
Through years of creating art and exploring different media, oil painting has been the backbone of my practice. As part of this natural evolution, these recent paintings include graphite and chalk. These materials provide opportunity for fresh line work and markmaking which I believe reflects the experience of finding the subject matter itself; the moment of discovery occurs twice.
